Solon was shot 2 times in the line of duty, was forced to kill an armed robber, and faced many personal and professional tragedies in his life because he fought to clean out his community of organized crime, bootleggers, murderers, and robbers. This is a fascinating true story of one mans life during the Prohibition era and behind the scenes look at local, county, and state politics. Solon Lewis captured many high profile criminals of the time using the art of fingerprint science. Solon became a fingerprint identification expert at a time when the FBI was just experimenting with the science. Solon Lewis would compile over 525 fingerprints of known criminals from the area, and he would be called upon by the FBI and other law enforcement officials to help them solve cases. The book covers some of the most interesting cases Lewis and other officers investigated in the rural farm communities of Marion County, SC.
